2026 Valedictorians

Hayden Phillips: Hayden is the son of James and Shannon Kraushaar. After graduating, Hayden plans to join the workforce to work in construction. He was involved in National Honor Society, baseball, and LIFE-the youth philanthropy group, throughout his time at Lakeland High School. His favorite class was the building trades program because he was able to see two houses come together from the ground up. His favorite school memory was all of his classes with friends over the years. Hayden is leaving Lakeland with both Academic Honors and Technical Honors Diplomas.

Noah Tropp: Noah is the son of Christopher and Elizabeth Tropp. Noah plans to attend Purdue University in West Lafayette to major in Physics after graduation. Noah was heavily involved in multiple state runs with the academic teams throughout his time at Lakeland. Noah was a member of science, social students, and math academic teams starting in the 8th grade. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and Interact club. In addition, he was recognized as an Indiana Academic All-Star as one of the top 40 students in Indiana based on a combination of GPA and SAT scores. Noah said that his favorite class at Lakeland was Calculus, and his favorite memory was winning the science academic team state championship during his sophomore year. Noah is graduating with an Academic Honors Diploma.

Lana Vankoevering: Lana is the daughter of Justin Vankoevering and Amanda Willick. After graduation, Lana plans to attend Purdue at West Lafayette and major in animal science. Throughout high school, she was actively involved in a wide range of extra curricular activities including: the National Honor Society, a section leader in band, two time captain of the cross country team, track, science academic team, and art club. Among all of Lana's classes, AP biology stood out as a favorite because the content was "interesting and cool." She shared her favorite Lakeland memory will always be the overnight cross country camp and all the fun things, such as the night run, they do during the three days there. A close second would be going to ISSMA state with her friends. Lana earned an Academic Honors Diploma.

Shakthi Ramachandran: Shakthi is the daughter of Anand and Teresa Ramachandran. After graduation, Shakthi plans to attend The University of Texas at Dallas, as a Biology and pre-medicine major. Throughout high school, Shakthi was actively involved in extra curricular activities, including: President of the National Honor Society, soccer captain, softball, English academic team, sports entertainment and marketing for DECA, and student council. Shakthi mentioned that her favorite class at Lakeland was Human Body Systems, which is part of the only Project Lead The Way Biomedical program in LaGrange County. Her favorite memory was the intense soccer games against Westview. Shakthi is graduating with an Academic Honors Diploma.

Kabella Watkins: Kabella is the daughter of Kevin and Jamie Watkins. Upon graduation, Kabella is going to Indiana University in Bloomington where she will pursue a major in environmental sciences. During her time at Lakeland, Kabella was involved in the National Honor Society Cheerleading, Girls Golf, and a world-class manager of both the Boys and Girls Wrestling teams. Kabella said that her favorite class at Lakeland was our award winning journalism class, and her favorite memory was any skit that they filmed in journalism during her sophomore year. Kabella is graduating with an Academic Honors Diploma.
